Artslighthouse is located in the valley of the Val, which has been nominated as one of the few places in Hungary that has a special microclimate (thus the botanic gardens were domiciled here in the 18th century) which has been said to have a very good effect on the human body.
We provide an opportunity for an escape from the city life for any artist who would like to create in a peaceful and quiet environment. While our guest have the opportunity to learn, create and immerse themselves in the artistic process; they can also have the opportunity to take a break and enjoy the relaxing thermal water spas nearby, wine tours, activities such as horse riding, fishing, excursions or even pay a visit to a historic site such as Budapest.
At Artslighthosue we also invite our guests to enjoy some of our typical hungarian dishes made from locally grown ingredients.
Tabajd is a little village located 45km from Budapest in the Vally of Val. The place is known from its speacial microclimate and that is the home of Europe first barefoot park. Vally of val provides a great eascape from the city and with its specially fresh air quality helps the body rejuvenate. Valley of val is alos the home of one of the most beautful botanics gardens in hungary the Alcsut Arboertum as well as Cenral Eurpos first Barefoot park at Tabjad.
Both the climate and land provides an ideal conditions for farming and growing crops, grapes, fruits and vegateables. In the village most people grow their own food and keep their own animlas, many of these are ancient hungarian species such as Hungarian grey, Mangalica pigs and the hungarian merino sheep. Vally of Val is also famous from its underground water reservioars, thus the many lakes in the area. Tabajd is a small village of about 1000 people, its very clean and well-mainted, people say hi to eachother. The village has its own Reform and Catolic Church. The village also has its own Milleneris park, a permenet exhibit of the Roman times and a Village museum, all reflecting the rich history of the location.
The village was established in the early ages around the roman ages, and was formally founded much later in 1228 as Toboyd. It has been the place of many historic events such as the Turkish empire's invading expeditions as well the secret gathering to support Rakoczy as well . During the summer there are many events in the village, including Village dasys, music festivlas, and markets.

Miklos Kollo is renown theater director. He has received the grant award at Festival de Caffe Theater, in Cannes. He has started his career by studying at Ladislav Fialka’s international school for choreography, in Prague. After graduating in 1967 he has founded his own theater group called Domino, which started a whole new way for performing arts. The dance theater brought alive drama on stage only through a non-verbal techniques, which very quickly been adopted by some other international performing groups as well.
As Kollo’s artistic language started to shift away from the traditionally understood theater and started to explore a whole way of expressing complex semiotics in a form of non-verbal acting. Among many others he adopted Thomas Mann’s, Asturias’s, Dosztojevszkij’s, Gogo’sl as well as Hieronymus Bosch’s, and Brughel’s novels and brought them to a wide audience on the stage.
In 1983 he has established the Centi Theater, where these plays were put on the stage. The success of the theater was renown in Hungary as well as internationally Kollo was awarded the grand award in Cannes at the Festival de Caffe Theater.
In 1984 he received part of the abandoned Buda castle labyrinth, where he designed and created Central Europe's first historic wax works exhibit; the Panoptikum of Hungarian History.
In 1989 based on his previous international experience he has established Vital Cultural and Touristic ltd. In 1990 he worked together with MOVI (Hungarian Movie and Video production company) to create Budapest’s own multimedia theater, Laterna Magica. By combining theater and movie together brought a new form of art to hungary. In 1993 he was asked to direct and plan the Central Europe Barque’s event series consisting of 224 programs across the country. Then not long after that he was also asked to lead the Central European Dance theater, which then allowed Kollo to direct new plays such as Ball of the Satan and Ferenc Liszt happy visit to hell.
In 2003 Kollo decided to turn toward the amature playgroups and he established “Tarka Szinpad” The newly established theater focus was to introduce senior citizen to acting and by that helping them to feel part of a community and be able to express themselves.
In 2008 Kollo has established Vál-Völgyi Művészeti Alkotóházat known as Artslighthouse,w hich besides theater groups also aims to bring artists designers and makers together form all over the world. Kollo has been asked to direct Google’s Diary of mad man which was shown at the National theater in Budapest last year (2028).Read more
Eva Preisinger
Eva Preisinger started as a dancer at Miklos Kollo’s Domino theater. Soon after Eva has received many leading roles as her exceptional skills and dance techniques. Eva soon started working with Miklos as a choreographer and has travelled with his theater across Europe. After returning to Hungary Eva has started her own youth theater group called Commedia 2000, which was also using non-verbal performance method to tell stories on stage.
In 1989 where Miklos established Vital kft Eva worked with him on the panoptikum (wax works) and organizing the events. Eva established gher company General Arts, which was continued to organize and design events.
Later on Eva got offered a job at a local community council as a cultural lead. Not long after Eva become the director of the community council and was offered as a position to become the director of the newly established district council cultural department. Eva took the position and built up KULTI, which become the one biggest cultural center’s of Budapest, theaters, galleries and event spaces belonged under her organization.
During this time Eva also directed Commedia 2000 and have achieved numerous successes such as receiving golden awards at the international children theater in Austria twice, and a silver medal at the Hungarian National Sandor Weoros Children Theater Festival.
In 2015 Eva decided to step down as the director of KULTI and put her focus towards Artslighthouse. She also started practice tiffany glass making and bead making after taking classes and receiving professional qualifications in the industry. Read more
Judit Kollo
Judit Kollo was born in 1985. At very early age she enjoyed working in fine art and at 12 she was shortlisted for an international poster competition. She started her studies at Fine and Applied art school in Budapest, where she was specialised in ceramics, while also practised graphic design. She received the first prize award at the international ceramics competition in 2015. Shortly after she gained entry to Central Saint Martins university in London, where she got her BA from.
During her studies she participated at design competitions where she was shortlisted (Vista Allegra in Portugal, Ethos in England) as well as invited to exhibit in Tokyo, and in London at New designers. She continued her studies at Rhode Island School of design. She was invited to exhibit at the Korean Biannual, as well as at the New York Artspace gallery, Blithewold Mansion, Newport Mansions, Harvard university and Arabia Museum.
Upon graduation she received the MFA award. After graduation she continued working as a digital designer in the USA and has only returned to London in 2013. She is currently working as a digital designer for companies such as Royal Mail, UEFA, BBC, and many more, while has been also practising as a ceramic designer in London as well. Read more
Dorottya Kollo
Dorottya Kollo was born in 1989, after graduating high school she continued her studies in London College of Arts where she received her BA in Illustration from. Upon graduation she seeked an internship at a computer game company called Jagex. Not long after she was promoted to a Junior UX designer at the game company, working on games such as Transformers Universe.
A year later she moved to Splash Damage where she is currently working as a senior UX designer. She created the whole UI and UX for Gears of War. Dorottya also worked on some art pieces, one of the most interesting one was an illustration of Edgar Allan Poe’s book where the book pages actual physical objects in them. Read More
